Ireland Snapshots
Oh Ireland, you beautiful country of great food and drink, rain and fog! You have so many castles and sheep. We arrived in Dublin, capital and largest city in the country. The city center was robust, beautiful, and bustling with nightlife. We kicked off our stay with a tasty dinner at Fade Street Social, whose most memorable bits included sourdough bread, pumpkin macaroni and cheese, and a phenomenal braised white beans and duck (this was easily our favorite dish ordered). Strong and delightful drinks were followed by a chilly, late night stroll around downtown. The food was on point during our travels, and was honestly one of my favorite parts of our time in Ireland. We also loved Pat Collins pub in Adare, an excellent recommendation by our bed & breakfast proprietor, where we watched a large rugby game (we have very little knowledge of rugby, but the whole pub was very much into it) and ate some awesome food including Irish stew (super beefy, with carrots and mashed potatoes, served with brown bread and butter). Smoked salmon was available at every breakfast, scrambled into eggs or set simply on a platter, ready for eating with toast.
