Scotland Snapshots
I have been working my way through Scotland photographs over the last few days. This place of huge views and diverse landscapes did not disappoint. The history alone was overwhelming - I admittedly did not do too much research prior to our flight there, and ended up doing some nightly Googling in order to catch up on what may have been missed, as every place visited had layers and layers of time and embedded story to unpack. There is still a list of locations, events, words, and phrases that I need to research.
We love our landscapes shaped by volcanic activity - Scotland was no exception. In addition to the raw drama of the geography, there were castles! Our route was around the Highlands, beginning and ending in Edinburgh and moving up to the treeless Isle of Skye. Memorable meals included a very succulent Scottish red deer, multiple Scottish breakfasts, sweet porridge, and plenty of whisky.
Returning to the density and scale of Edinburgh was a little bit of a shock after the openness and isolation of Skye and the country drives. This UNESCO World Heritage city is bustling, large, historic and beautiful, although its designation has faced recent scrutiny from the UN Agency due to the planning of two developments in the city's center.
Per usual, iPhone photos below.
