World Trade Center Oculus

I just returned from a long weekend with some girlfriends in New York.  One of the stops made was at the newly opened Oculus Transportation Hub at the emotionally charged World Trade Center.  Calatrava's trademark sculptural wings mark the entry point to a massive infrastructure maze that connects the buildings on the World Trade Center site and the subway.  A subterranean shopping center is located directly below the slit at the center of the Oculus.  Inside, the opening creates a strip of light atop the atrium of the shopping plaza.  The video is shot from a bridge that connects One World Trade with adjacent buildings.  Calatrava's white ribs are not isolated to reaching for the sky; they envelop the passageways lined with (unoccupied) storefronts and constantly moving visual displays (commercials).
